DUA FOR TRENDS?

Lately, a woman who recently received a G-Wagon after her “Allahumma inni as’aluka G-Wagon” supplication went viral. It is understood that her dua at that moment was accepted by Allah.

Since then, many people have started making videos of themselves mentioning what they “pray for” as content, while others post similar trends online.

But over time, I’ve noticed this trend becoming more and more uncontrolled. People are now saying things like “...as’aluka Gucci”, “...as’aluka Lamborghini”, and so on. Eventually, this trend has turned into a joke rather than a sincere supplication. The sacred act of dua is slowly being reduced to cheap entertainment and content.

Meanwhile, when the Rasulullah made dua, he would raise his hands high in humility. The Companions would supplicate until they cried intensely. Their beards would become soaked with tears, and the places where they sujood would become warm from their devotion, prayer, and hope in Allah.

This beautiful and sacred act of worship is now being turned into a passing social media trend.
My advice is this, make dua the way it is meant to be made. Return sincerely to Allah. May Allah grant all of us tawfiq and hidayah.
